IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The plans compare the site of Beechwood Farm in 1950 and the same farm in the present day.

Overall, the site underwent many significant developments, including many amenities were added in the sheep area. In addition, the track was replaced by a road, the area of soft fruits and vegetables remained unchanged.

An analysis of the image reveals that, in 1950, the northwest side of the site was a sheep area, but today it was divided into paths. The left path contains a parking area beside the tree and camping fields were added just below the same tree. Moreover, on the right path solar panels are installed, along with parking. In addition, the track was replaced by a road.

From the image it is evident that, the northeast of site contains fruit trees in past, however, today farm shop is added next to the fruit trees. On the same direction the area of soft fruits and vegetables remained unchanged during the period. Furthermore, on the south of farm a barn was attached to the tip of the road. Thereafter, on the southeast of site the barn was replaced by holiday cottages and the area of farmhouse and chickens remained unchanged.
