Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, identifying key changes such as the conversion of the barn to cottages and the addition of solar panels and a camping field. However, the report contains some factual inaccuracies regarding the layout, such as the claim that the farmhouse was divided or that the chicken shop remained unchanged, which contradicts the visual evidence. While the overview is present, it lacks a clear synthesis of the overall trend, focusing more on listing changes. To reach a higher band, ensure that all descriptions of spatial changes are precise and that the overview highlights the most significant transformations rather than just listing new amenities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body, and summary. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'In 1950', but some transitions feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the internal structure of the second paragraph is somewhat cluttered by listing too many changes in a single block. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., ensuring it is clear which area is being referred to) and varying the linking words would enhance the flow. Overall, the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with terms like 'renovation', 'amenities', and 'converted' used appropriately. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'area of the yield' and 'a chickens shop', which are not standard English. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Focusing on more accurate terminology for map descriptions—such as 'replaced by', 'transformed into', or 'situated in the northern quadrant'—would improve the lexical quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a farm had a simple facilities', 'a chickens') and prepositional usage. Some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'A barn was replaced into holiday cottages', where 'converted into' would be more accurate. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles when describing singular and plural features on a map.
