IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The illustration displays the site of farm in today's time and in the time of 1950.

The farm which is named beechwood farm has different time period plans. 1950s plan showed that farm is enriched with natural habitat or environmnet but with limited appliances or leisure facilities . On the other hand today's farm plan contain all the natural habitat as well as all the necessary items of modern age.

Firstly let see the old plan in detail in which we can see that there is main road if we track out from the farm area. Along with that it can be seen there is half round route of river flow. If we look inside then there are two portions are visibly separated by a bended track. One side of walking route contain sheep area. While the other contain 4 separate portions acting as a main site of farm containing site of fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables and a last portion contain the comulative three distnict subareas including barn, farmhouse and chickens area.

In current plan few thing are retained but several modifications has been done. Track changed into proper road. The sheep area converted into variouys portions including two parking areas, camping feild and solar panels site. The other side retained the same areas with a few changes like installation of farm shop in fruit trees area, shifting the postion of barn into the cornor of blunt end of road and holiday cottages installed on the previous location of barn.

There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'environmnet', 'variouys', and 'comulative', which slightly detract from the overall quality. Additionally, some phrasing is a bit informal or imprecise, such as 'main items of modern age'. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing maps and diagrams, and ensure you proofread your work to catch simple spelling errors that could have been avoided.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task.
