Furthermore, there is a river that runs beneath the main road that has not moved from the previous position. There are fruits and vegetable shops adjacent to the main road that have not changed their site. The chicken shop and farmhouse are side by side at the same place as in the past.
The road has been converted to a track, and on the other side of the track there are two parking areas and a camping field. The sheep have been moved from that place and now there is an area for solar panels behind parking. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response provides a clear overview of the main changes, such as the addition of modern buildings and the conversion of the road. You successfully identified key features like the river and the vegetable shops remaining unchanged. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise comparisons. For instance, you mention 'a number of parking has built' without specifying the location or the scale of change compared to 1950. Additionally, some descriptions are slightly vague, such as 'the barn has been moved with a vegetable shop,' which lacks clarity regarding the new layout. To reach a higher band, ensure that all major features are clearly located and described in relation to the overall site plan.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the general overview and the specific details could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed, such as the final sentence regarding the barn. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a more natural flow between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amenities,' 'converted,' and 'adjacent.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'a number of parking has built' (should be 'parking areas have been built') and 'more easiness' (should be 'greater convenience'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that nouns and verbs agree correctly in context. Expanding your vocabulary to include more descriptive terms for spatial changes would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Many alternations have been done' (should be 'alterations have been made') and 'a number of parking has built' (passive voice error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. While you attempt to use complex structures, they are not always error-free. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice for describing site changes will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
