Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the farm site in 1950 and today. You successfully identified key changes, such as the removal of the sheep farm and the addition of leisure facilities like the camping area and holiday cottages. However, the overview is slightly weak; it lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, such as the shift from agricultural to commercial/leisure use. While you mention specific details like the solar panels and the relocation of the barn, some descriptions are a bit fragmented. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the primary transformation of the site more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Regarding the south part of the area' is functional, but other links between sentences feel abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'Barn which was located near the sheep farm was transferred to the south near the chicken', where the connection between the old and new locations could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, using terms like 'converted', 'infrastructures', and 'relocated'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'different means of purpose', 'almost fourth the the total place', and 'holiday cottages rose'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are natural and contextually appropriate for describing maps and site plans.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('The charts illustrates'), missing articles ('Barn which was located'), and awkward phrasing ('were still remain'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors prevent the response from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and article usage, to ensure your writing is more polished and professional.
