Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the transition from a sheep farm to recreational facilities and the conversion of the barn into holiday cottages. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. Some details are inaccurate or confusing, such as the mention of 'sonar panels' (likely solar panels) and the repetitive, fragmented listing of features. While the main changes are identified, the lack of sophisticated comparison and the inclusion of minor, poorly described details prevent a higher score. The response would benefit from more precise grouping of information to better highlight the transformation of the site.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'one side of the track', 'same side of track'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial layout of the farm. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical progression, often reading like a list of observations rather than a coherent summary of changes. Improved use of linking words and better sentence variety would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'sonar panels' instead of 'solar panels' and 'rechanged the its location'. The repetition of basic terms like 'track', 'side', and 'remains' limits the range. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated vocabulary to describe spatial changes or developments restricts the score. To improve, you should focus on using more descriptive verbs and nouns related to urban or rural planning, and ensure accurate spelling of technical terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('diagrams illustrates', 'fruit trees has'), missing articles ('at the end barn is connected'), and awkward phrasing ('Holiday cottages previously it was barn'). These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the clarity of the description. While the meaning is usually discernible, the lack of control over basic sentence construction and punctuation prevents a higher band. Focusing on consistent verb tenses and correct sentence structure will significantly improve your writing.
