The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The two maps illustrate the layout of a Beechwood Farm in 1950 and at present.

Overall, it is evident that Beechwood Farm has undergone significant changes during the period. Many areas have been reorganized, with several new features such as solar panels, a parking area, a farm shop, a camping field, holiday cottages, and a new barn being added, while some original features have remained unchanged.

Looking at the maps in more detail, in 1950, the sheep field was located on the northern side of the farm. A barn and a farmhouse were situated in the eastern part of the area. Additionally, soft fruit and vegetable fields occupied the central area of Beechwood Farm. Fruit trees were located on the western side. Meanwhile, the chickens were positioned in the southern corner of the farm.

At present, there have been some major changes in Beechwood Farm. A camping field and solar panels were installed. A newly built farm shop, parking, and holiday cottages have been added. Furthermore, the chickens, barn, vegetables, farmhouse, soft fruits, and fruit trees remain in the same positions.
