Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the farm's transformation, such as the addition of holiday cottages, a camping field, and solar panels. However, the report lacks precision in describing the spatial layout. For example, stating that the farmhouse and river 'stayed unchanged' is inaccurate, as the map shows the farmhouse was converted into holiday cottages. Furthermore, the description of the new additions is somewhat cluttered and lacks a clear, logical grouping (e.g., distinguishing between accommodation, leisure, and infrastructure). To reach a higher band, ensure that you accurately interpret the visual data and provide a more structured overview of the changes rather than listing them in a somewhat disjointed manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. Phrases like 'To begin with' and 'After the redesign' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. For instance, the transition between describing the original state and the new additions could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'To the opposite of it is the solar panels', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clearer logical progression between ideas would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, such as 'redesign', 'amendments', and 'constructed'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'a bark which was partitioned' is likely a misspelling of 'barn', and 'trucks there road is added' is grammatically confusing and lexically imprecise. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for map descriptions, such as 'converted into', 'replaced by', or 'situated to the north/south'. While your vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'all the given changes are made to make this place more organized' should be 'were made'. There are also issues with article usage ('the site of a Beechwood farm') and subject-verb agreement ('The barns has been replaced'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical errors and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
