Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the replacement of sheep land and the addition of new infrastructure. However, the description is somewhat inaccurate in places; for example, the text mentions 'industrial estate' and 'poultry', which are not clearly supported by the provided images. The summary of changes is present, but the comparison between 1950 and the present lacks precision. The overview is a bit disjointed, and some details are misidentified, which limits the clarity of the report. To improve, ensure that all information reported is clearly visible in the source material and focus on describing the spatial changes more accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response uses paragraphing to separate the introduction, overview, and body paragraphs, which is a good start. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Phrases like 'To begin with' and 'In the present' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is often choppy. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'The river completely running from the nearby places', which lacks a clear connection to the rest of the sentence. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally repetitive, which affects the overall readability of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'sheeps' (plural of sheep is sheep), 'soft fruuts', and 'infractractures'. The student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'solar panels' and 'holiday cottages', but the overall range is limited. Spelling errors, such as 'infractractures' and 'fruuts', are noticeable. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more accurate terminology for describing map changes and ensure correct spelling and pluralization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'The maps presented illustrate the construction plan... to the present', 'a dramatic changes took place', and 'The infractractures was modernize'. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, and there are issues with tense usage when describing the changes. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
