IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps illustrate the changes that have taken place at Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present day.

Overall, the farm has been significantly moderised and diversified.While the agricultural land used for fruit trees,soft fruits,vegetables , and chickens has largely been retained ,the sheep field has been replaced by facilities for tourism,including a camping field,holiday cottages,parking areas, and solar panels.In addition,the track system has been upgraded into roads.

In 1950,the western side contained fruit trees,soft fruits,vegetables fields, all which remain in the same locations today. The farmhouse,barn, and chicken area were situated in the south-east, with tracks connecting these buildings to the rest of the farm.

Today,several new features have been introduced.A farm shop and a parking area have been constructed near the entrance in the north-east corner.Furthermore,holiday cottages have been built to the east of the farmhouse,accompanied by an additional parking area.The barn has also been relocated slightly to the south-west,and all the former tracks have been replaced by a network of roads.
