IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps illustrate how the Beechwood farm looked in 1950 and now.

Overall, the Beechwood farm underwent significant development, with the construction of new holiday cottages and farm shop. The major change was the sheep area was removed to make way for camping field, solar panels and two parking areas. Moreover,the tracks converted into artirial roads. The barn was relocated to the south of the farm.

To begin with, in 1950, thesheep area was situated on the north-west corner of this site. Fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables were located in the middle of the beechwood farm, alongside with the river and connected with track. On the east side of this area, barn and farmhouse were situated and the chickens were located behind the farmhouse.

At present, the sheep area gets transformed into camping field, solar panels and two parking areas on the northern side of Beechwood farm. Similarly, the tracks were converted into artirial roads and connected to the relocated barn. Furthermore, barn is moved to make a way for holiday cottages on the east side of this area. The location of farmhouse and chickens remained at same as of prevoius.
