The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The two maps provided illustrate the site of a farm, named Beechwood Farm, in 1950 and also in the present day. Overall, the farm has undergone significant redevelopments, with many original features being removed or replaced. The river, bridge, road, farmhouse, place for chickens, and the land to grow soft fruits and vegetables are still present at their actual locations, while solar panels, a camping field, two parking lots, holiday cottages, and a farm shop were some new additions.

In 1950, the land that was occupied by the sheep is now divided four sections: solar panels, a camping field, and two parking areas. Along with this, a road is now developed on the track area and the intersection of two roads is now connected to a barn as well. Moreover, a farm shop is now constructed within the area, where only the fruit trees were grown previously. Now, the barn is reduced in size and holiday cottages are built on the area that used to be a barn in 1950. Lastly, it can also be seen that no changes were made to the place where chickens are kept.
