IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The plans illustrate the changes that happened in the Beechwood Farm from 1950 to present. Overall, the Farm undergone an extensive redevelopment throughout the period. New roads, buildings, and areas were built, while the produce garden, as well as the Farmhouse and chicken coop remained unchanged.

The old tracks were demolished and replaced by roads. Similarly, the northern area of the farm allocated for sheep was also removed to give way to a camping field and an area for solar panels. On this side of the road, there were two parking spaces that were built. One near the main road and the other one is located near the solar panels.

On the southern part of the farm, the old barn was demolished and was replaced by the Holiday cottages. The smaller barn was built near the roads. By contrast, the Farmhouse and chicken coop remained unchanged. Similarly, the produce gardens for vegetables, soft fruits, and fruit trees stayed in the same location. In addition, a small farm shop was built near the entrance and across the new parking space.
