The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The two plans show the changes that have taken place at Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present day.

Overall, the farm has changed considerably, with several new facilities being added for visitors. However, the areas for fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables have remained in place.

In 1950, the farm mainly consisted of fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables and a large area for sheep. There was also a farmhouse, a barn and a small chicken area on the eastern side. Several tracks connected the different parts of the farm.

Today, the sheep area has been replaced by a camping field, while solar panels, a farm shop, parking areas and holiday cottages have been added. The old tracks have also been changed into roads. The farmhouse and chicken area are still present, while the barn has been moved closer to the centre of the farm. The areas for fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables have remained largely unchanged.
