Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While the main features of the farm's transformation are identified, the description is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary. The overview is present but underdeveloped, and the comparison between the two time periods is fragmented. Because the response is 37 words under the minimum, it cannot be considered a fully developed report. To improve, you must ensure all key changes—such as the removal of the farmhouse and the addition of specific facilities—are described with sufficient detail to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes awkward, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the lack of a clear conclusion or a cohesive summary makes the text feel unfinished. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple verbs like 'changed' and 'constructed'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'The sheep Is totally changed into energy harvesting solar panels', which is logically confusing. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'replaced by', 'converted into', 'demolished', or 'expanded'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and nouns will help you convey information more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some of the places... is stayed') and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Where parking spots for visitors have been designed'). The range of structures is limited to simple sentences, with no successful attempts at complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation. Additionally, practice combining simple sentences into complex ones using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a better command of English grammar.
