The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps compare the layouts of Beechwood Farm in 1950 and how it has changed today.

Overall, the farm has experienced significant changes over the time with modern addition of different facilities and amenities. Although fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables cultivation areas have remained the same, parking lots as well as a row holiday cottages have been built with upgradation of the tracks into roads are observed now.

One of the noticeable changes of the farm is observed in the northeast side. In 1950, this side was reserved for sheep farming alone. However, now facilities and recreational stuffs such as parking lot at the entrance, camping field and solar panels have been included to make this site a multitasking farm. Moreover, a network of track have been changed to road for better advantages to the visitors at present.

The barn which was located in the southeast corner of the farm in 1950, now has been relocated at the road junction in the south as a row of holiday cottages have been built at the previous barn place. A parking lot has been built beside the road for the visitors as well. The farmhouse and the chickens enclosure remain in the same place as before. Then, the northwest side of the farm still occupies the fruits trees and vegetables but this time a farm shop has been opened beside the main road.
