Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to describe the changes at Beechwood farm, but it fails to provide a clear overview or a logical summary of the main features. While some changes are mentioned, such as the addition of the farm shop and solar panels, the description is fragmented and lacks a professional tone. The report does not effectively compare the two time periods, often listing features rather than synthesizing the information. The inclusion of irrelevant personal commentary like 'todays click' is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, you must focus on identifying the most significant trends and grouping information logically, such as by area or type of change.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, and the body paragraphs are poorly defined, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of changes. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the abrupt transition 'if we look fruit trees'. The lack of proper paragraphing and the run-on nature of the sentences hinder the flow of information. To improve, you should use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Subsequently') to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'area', and 'good changes', which do not demonstrate the range required for a higher band. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'camping field which is held' and 'track was know a road'. The spelling errors, such as 'know' instead of 'now' and 'vegetable's' with an unnecessary apostrophe, further detract from the quality of the writing. You should aim to use more precise terminology related to maps and spatial descriptions, such as 'converted into', 'replaced by', or 'situated in the northern sector'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('The figure illustrate', 'These both pictures shows'), tense usage ('these things was not present'), and punctuation. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'The sheep area area was divided into two parts which is used for solar panels'. The misuse of articles and the lack of proper sentence boundaries make the text difficult to read. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
