Student answer (Band 6.0)
The plans depict the changes in the layout of Beechwood Farm today in comparison to its initial phase in 1950.
Overall, the dimensions of the layout is still same as the older one. However, new placed are introduced in it such as Farm shop and holiday cottages. Moreover, the raw tracks are now converted into roads and the barn is transferred from its original place to the place connected to the roads. Surprisingly, Place which was used for Sheep is now being used for camping, parking and producing solar energy via Solar panels.
To be specific, Farm shop is constructed near fruit trees for selling the farm products and a place for parking is made just opposite to it. For convenience, the tracks are upgraded to roads and access to barn is transferred from road ending to the place which is directly connected to the roads. For Tourists, the holiday cottages were formed with view of road and farmhouse. Furthermore, places for sheep is now used as camping field and parking. For energy conservation, Solar panels are installed in this place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the transformation well, identifying key changes such as the addition of the farm shop, holiday cottages, and solar panels. You successfully compared the 1950 layout with the current one. However, the overview is slightly weak; while you mention the dimensions remain the same, it could be more descriptive regarding the overall shift from a purely agricultural site to a more diversified, tourism-oriented one. The description of the barn relocation is a bit confusing, and some details, such as the specific location of the parking, could be more precisely integrated to ensure a clearer summary of the spatial changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Surprisingly', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'new placed are introduced in it'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when describing the barn's relocation. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transition between the general overview and the specific details could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dimensions', 'converted', 'upgraded', and 'energy conservation'. However, there are several instances of unnatural word choice or incorrect word forms, such as 'new placed are introduced' (should be 'new facilities') and 'raw tracks' (should be 'dirt tracks' or 'unpaved paths'). The repetition of 'place' and 'made' limits the sophistication of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations related to map descriptions and avoiding repetitive, generic nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include 'the dimensions of the layout is still same' (subject-verb agreement error), 'holiday cottages were formed with view of road' (missing articles), and 'places for sheep is now used' (subject-verb agreement). These errors are noticeable but do not completely impede communication. Increasing your control over articles and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
