Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively covers all key features of the maps. You have successfully identified the main changes, such as the transition from agricultural land to residential housing and the removal of internal tracks. The comparison between 1950 and the present day is clear, and you have highlighted specific details like the repurposing of fields and the addition of a car park. The overview provides a concise summary of the major transformations. To reach a higher band, ensure that all labels are spelled correctly and that you describe the spatial relationships with even greater precision, perhaps by explicitly mentioning the relative locations of the new housing estate compared to the original farm buildings.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the past and present respectively. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'in 1950', 'today', and 'finally', which help guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences more fluidly, and ensure that referencing is consistent throughout the text to avoid any potential ambiguity.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'transformation', 'streamlined', 'repurposed', and 'designated'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'illuastrate', 'occured', 'becchwood', 'soite', 'ansd', 'contaoined', 'ariver', 'substanial', 'completly', 'orignal', and 'cark'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While the vocabulary is relevant and allows for clear communication, the high frequency of spelling mistakes limits the score. Focusing on proofreading your work for basic spelling accuracy will significantly improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the maps illuastrate', 'transformation that have occured') and missing articles or punctuation errors. While these errors do not impede the overall meaning of the report, they occur frequently. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for more error-free sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, such as pluralization and verb tense consistency. Strengthening your control over these fundamental structures will enhance the overall quality of your writing.
