IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plans illustrate the map of the Beechwood farm in the year 1950 and in the present day respectively.

Overall, a huge change can noticed in the farm today, starting from commercialization with the introduction of parking, farm shop, camping field and holiday cottages. Several improvements have been made by replacing the tracks by roads and installation of solar panels.

In 1950, the farm was not so crowded with establishments like it is today. The field on the north-east side of the track was only used for sheep, which has got converted half into a camping field and the other half has been utilized for installing solar panels with two parking lots on two sides.

Even though the barn has been replaced by holiday cottages, a small barn is newly constructed on the left side of the chickens connected to the triangular road which was track before. Rest of the garden almost remains the same with a slight exception of building a farm shop over the fruit trees.
