IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps illustrate the Beechwood Farm in 1950 and at the present times.

Overall, the farm has underwent into significant changes, with the new additions, replacement of old areas and some things at the farm remained untouched throughout the period.

In 1950, the farm had fruit trees beside the river, today a farm shop is also built near fruit trees where fruits can be stored. In addition, there was a separate area for sheep grazing in 1950, which is now transformed into camping field, parking area for visitors and few solar panels have also installed now.

Notable changes, roads are built in place of track areas in a farmland. The Barn area in 1950, was redeveloped into holiday cottages presently where people can stay and at the periphery of road area, a small barn is constructed. Interestingly, few areas remained relatively untouched which were soft fruits, vegetables, farmhouse and chickens, respectively.
