IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given maps depict the changes about the site of the Beechwood farm in 1950 to the present day .

Overall, it is clear that farm has undergone significant changes over the period shown. The area has become developed, with several new features. Also some existing ones being removed or replaced.

Firstly, looking at the western and central parts of the area, the fruit trees, Soft fruits and vegetables have remained largely unchanged. However, the track system has been replaced by roads, which now provide access to the different parts of the farm. In addition, a farm shop and parking area have been introduced near the fruit trees, while the former sheep field has been transformed into a Camping field.

Turning to the eastern and southern parts of the farm, the most significant changes are the addition of solar panels, a second parking area and several holiday cottages. The Barn also connected to the road network. In contrast, the farmhouse and chickens area have remained in the original position. While, the river surrounding the farm has remained unchanged.
