The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The map chart below illustrates the changes that have been made in Beechwood Farm since 1950 to today.

Overall, Beechwood Farm has been developed with adding some outdoor activities and amenities such as the camping field, solar panels and so on.

In 1950, Beechwood Farm used to provide some edible products like fruits and vegetables between the river and track. There were various parts that were utilized as a barn, a farmhouse and chickens on the south-east corner. The vast area was only for sheep in the north-east side along with the huge bridge on the opposite side.

These days, firstly, the track is converted into the road with the new facilities of the vehicle parking on the north and east side of the farm which connects with the road. Secondly, the sheep area is totally demolished and separated into the camping zone in the centre and installing solar panels in the corner for the electricity. The four sections like soft fruits, vegetables, chickens and the farmhouse remained untouched. But the new farm shop is built with the fruit trees for commercial purposes. Lastly, the barn area was replaced with the new holiday cottages and the barn was shifted on the sharp edge side of the road between chickens and vegetables
