IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given maps illustrate the changes Beechwood Farm underwent from 1950 to the present.

Overall, a significant amount of construction is made in terms of developing the farm for camping and tourism purposes. However, the general sectioning of fruits and vegetables fields, as well as the location of the chicken barn and farmhouse remains unchanged.

One of the major infrastructural changes involves the re-construction of the old track into a network of roads on the same lines. Moreover, the area designated for sheep is fully transformed into a camping site with two parking lots on the two far ends, as well as a huge section being allotted for the installation of the solar panels.

Meanwhile, the barn is replaced by holiday cottages, and the old barn is shifted to a new place in-between vegetables and chicken area. However, the vegetables and fruits fields remained intact with only one addition of a farm shop adjacent to the main road.
