Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main features of the farm's transformation. You have clearly contrasted the 1950 layout with the present day, highlighting both the additions (e.g., holiday cottages, solar panels) and the elements that remained unchanged. The overview is effective in summarising the shift from an agricultural focus to a tourist-oriented site. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with precision; for instance, the location of the new barn is mentioned, but the specific changes to the track could be described with more detail regarding its transformation into a road. Overall, the task is well-addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the past and present respectively. The progression of information is easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words beyond 'In 1950' and 'today'. Additionally, some punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in '...situated on the north, In the west...', slightly disrupt the flow. Improving the variety of transitions would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, such as 'transformed', 'facilities', 'converted', and 'replaced'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'gazing' instead of 'grazing' and 'tress' instead of 'trees'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your description. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations related to map descriptions, such as 'situated in the northern part' or 'the site has undergone significant development'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use passive voice (e.g., 'has been transformed', 'has been replaced'), there are frequent grammatical errors. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, such as 'the plans illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'chicken coop stands' (should be 'stand'). There are also issues with article usage and tense consistency, such as 'a track has passed' (should be 'passed'). While these errors rarely impede meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and tense would be highly beneficial.
