Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively covers the requirements of the task. You have provided a clear overview of the transformation from an agricultural site to a tourist destination and highlighted the main features, such as the addition of the camping field, holiday cottages, and the farm shop. You also successfully identified which elements remained unchanged. The comparison between 1950 and the present is clear and logical. To reach a higher band, ensure that all minor details are accurately reflected; for instance, the 'small barn' mentioned in the final paragraph is a good observation, but ensure the distinction between the original barn and new structures is consistently precise throughout the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the changes. The progression of information is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'While,' 'In 1950,' and 'Today,' to transition between time periods and ideas. However, the cohesion could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that punctuation around lists is more consistent. For example, the list in the second paragraph is slightly disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences would help the text feel more cohesive and less like a series of individual observations.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'transformed,' 'agricultural area,' 'facilities,' and 'converted.' There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'converted into road' (missing an article) and 'despite all these developments the farmhouse... are at their original locations' (which is slightly clunky). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more varied synonyms for 'change' or 'addition' would enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding articles ('the road,' 'a camping field') and subject-verb agreement ('chicken coop remains' should be 'remain'). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as the inconsistent spacing before commas and the use of a colon in the second paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for articles and pluralization will significantly improve your accuracy.
