Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the conversion of the sheep yard into a camping area and the relocation of the barn. However, the description is somewhat disjointed and lacks a clear, analytical overview of the most significant changes. While the key developments are mentioned, the comparison between 1950 and the present is occasionally confusing due to imprecise language (e.g., 'converted in to the few developments'). To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview clearly synthesizes the major trends, such as the shift from agricultural use to tourism-related facilities, rather than just listing individual changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Move towards the furture information' and 'Which were converted in to'. The logical flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when describing the movement of the track and the relocation of the barn. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun reference would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'throght', 'trasfred', 'eminities', 'tress') and awkward collocations (e.g., 'parking slot', 'fruit trees farm'). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms to describe the changes. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'transformed', 'replaced', 'extended', or 'demolished', and ensure that spelling is accurate to avoid distracting the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'there were track'), subject-verb agreement errors, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'Which were converted in to the few developments'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary full stops breaking up sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundaries and consistent verb usage is essential.
