Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some key features, such as the transformation of the barn and the addition of solar panels, the overview is underdeveloped. You have missed several key details, such as the expansion of the farmhouse and the removal of certain trees. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive summary of the changes and ensure the response meets the length requirement to allow for full development of the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical flow is somewhat disjointed. While you use transition words like 'First and foremost' and 'Second', the connection between sentences is occasionally mechanical. The final paragraph is particularly abrupt and lacks a clear, cohesive structure. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider range of cohesive devices to link your ideas more fluidly throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'major change', 'major transformation', and 'undeveloped'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'fabrication of solar panels' (installation would be more appropriate) and 'starting of highway' (beginning or entrance). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to maps and urban planning, such as 'converted', 'replaced', 'extended', or 'remained unchanged'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('a sheep area', 'a farm shop'), subject-verb agreement ('both has'), and punctuation. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. For example, 'Tracks are changed to roads' is a very basic passive construction. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of complex structures and proofread carefully to correct basic errors in articles and pluralization.
