Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of the farm shop, the road, and the camping field. However, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends. The description is somewhat repetitive, and the lack of paragraphing makes it difficult to follow the comparison between 1950 and the present day. While the main points are identified, the response lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band, as it reads more like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks paragraphing entirely, which is a significant issue for a report. The ideas are presented in a single block of text, making the progression of information feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are very limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'in 1950', 'in today', 'there are'). There is no clear logical flow between the different areas of the farm, and the lack of transition words makes the text feel mechanical and difficult to navigate. Improving the structure by grouping related features into paragraphs would significantly enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'there are', 'there is', and 'in today' are used excessively throughout the text. There is little attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe spatial changes or developments (e.g., 'transformed', 'replaced', 'expanded', 'converted'). Some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'huge ground of sheep' instead of 'sheep pasture' or 'grazing area'. To improve, you should focus on using more precise nouns and verbs related to map descriptions and avoid repeating the same sentence structures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it summarize', 'their are many changes') and preposition usage. Sentence structures are simple and repetitive, relying heavily on 'there is/are' constructions. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and punctuation is largely absent, which makes the text difficult to read. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of basic errors and the lack of grammatical variety limit the score in this criterion.
