Student answer (Band 5.5)
The planer of a farm in 1950 is distinguished from the today farm that have quite reasonable changes as compared to the previous one.
Overall, the Beechwood farm have similarities along with differences as the fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables are at the same place on river bank in both planers. The farm in 1950 is not well organized but the today farm is more flourished. In today farm, solar panels are present at the right top besides with camping field. There is also farm shop and parking area nearby. But in old farm, all the mentioned things was replaced by sheep only. Replacing the track with roads in new farm is protected with barn.
There is also one more parking area here along with the road. The one more difference is addition of holiday cottages in new farm that was replaced by barn in old farm. The rest like farmhouse and chickens are at the same place in both planers.
In conclusion, although the old one is replaced with new one have all the facilities but, with the passage of time there is still many advancements will come.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the two maps, identifying key changes such as the addition of solar panels, a camping field, and holiday cottages. However, the description is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear, analytical approach. The comparison between the two time periods is occasionally confusing, such as the statement that 'all the mentioned things was replaced by sheep only,' which is unclear. While the main features are identified, the overview is weak and does not effectively summarize the most significant transformations, such as the shift from a purely agricultural site to one incorporating tourism and renewable energy. More precise reporting of locations and spatial relationships would improve the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'in today farm' and 'in old farm.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes described. For example, the sentence 'Replacing the track with roads in new farm is protected with barn' is syntactically confusing and lacks a clear connection to the previous information. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a smooth progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'planer' instead of 'plan' or 'map,' and 'flourished' used to describe the farm's development. Phrases like 'right top' are imprecise for a formal report. While the student attempts to describe the features, the lack of variety in vocabulary and the misuse of certain terms (e.g., 'planers' for 'plans') hinder the precision of the description. To reach a higher band, the student should use more varied and accurate terminology related to map description, such as 'situated,' 'converted,' or 'expanded.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the Beechwood farm have,' 'all the mentioned things was replaced') and article usage (e.g., 'in today farm'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as the concluding sentence which is a run-on and grammatically incomplete. Punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is inconsistent, which affects the readability of the report.
