Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the farm plans, identifying key changes such as the addition of solar panels, a camping field, and holiday cottages. However, the description is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear, analytical approach. The overview is present but contains grammatical errors that obscure the meaning. Some details are described in a confusing manner, such as the location of the barn and the movement of the farmhouse. To improve, ensure that the overview clearly contrasts the most significant changes and that the body paragraphs follow a logical spatial progression rather than a list-like description.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often awkward, such as 'Start with the sheep area' and 'Let move to the fruit trees area'. These transitions feel mechanical and do not effectively guide the reader through the spatial changes. Furthermore, the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the exact location of the new features. To achieve a higher band, use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping changes by area or type.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. There are several instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'two hunts' (likely meaning 'huts') and 'moved towrds the stright'. The range of vocabulary is limited to simple descriptions, which restricts the ability to convey the changes with precision. To improve, incorporate more specific terminology related to maps and diagrams, such as 'converted into', 'replaced by', 'situated in the vicinity of', or 'remained largely unchanged'. Focusing on accurate spelling and more sophisticated collocations will significantly enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with verb tenses ('numerous changes had been taken place'), subject-verb agreement ('There are lot of changes take place'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, and there is a lack of complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of passive voice, which is essential for describing map changes (e.g., 'The barn was replaced by holiday cottages'). Reducing the frequency of errors in basic grammar is necessary to move to a higher band.
