Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you identify some key features such as the addition of solar panels and holiday cottages, the description is fragmented and lacks a clear overview. You mention the removal of the sheep herd, but the analysis of the changes is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. The response is too brief to provide a comprehensive summary of the main features and comparisons between the two time periods.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text lacks a logical structure. There is no clear paragraphing, and the flow of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the description. For example, the transition between the 1950 description and the current state is abrupt and lacks a clear linking phrase. The sentences are often incomplete or run-on, which further hinders the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. Phrases like 'no extra odinary' and 'power purpose' are unclear and do not convey the intended meaning effectively. There is a lack of precise terminology related to map description, such as 'layout', 'transformed', 'converted', or 'replaced'. The repetition of basic words and the misuse of terms like 'soft trees' instead of 'orchards' or 'vegetation' limit the ability to communicate the information clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The diagram show'), missing articles ('site of farm'), and incomplete sentence structures ('where the people'). The use of complex structures is attempted but fails due to poor control, resulting in fragmented sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and periods, which makes the text difficult to read. A significant improvement in basic sentence construction is required.
