Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the changes at Beechwood Farm between 1950 and the present. Key features such as the camping area, solar panels, and the change in barn location are mentioned, but the overall structure is somewhat unclear and lacks direct comparisons between the two timeframes. The conclusion is vague and could benefit from more specific comparisons to demonstrate a clearer understanding of the changes. Overall, it partially fulfills the task requirements, but it needs to be clearer and more detailed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The coherence and cohesion of the response are lacking. Sentences sometimes appear disconnected, making it hard to follow the logical progression of information. For example, phrases like "on the left side of it where fruit, soft fruits and vegetables were grow" are confusing. Better use of linking words and phrases to indicate transitions would enhance readability. Additionally, varied sentence structures could improve the flow of ideas and help establish clearer relationships between past and present features.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical resource is adequate, with some suitable vocabulary like "solar panels" and "camping area." However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as "numbers of new rooms" and "grow in separate blocks," which detracts from the overall quality. The use of more precise vocabulary would strengthen the response. Finding synonyms for repeated terms and using descriptive adjectives could enhance the lexical variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
Grammatical range and accuracy are areas needing improvement. There are instances of grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., "the size of area remain same") and incorrect tense usage. The sentence structure is often awkward or run-on, making it difficult to interpret the intended meaning. More careful proofreading and a greater focus on grammatical accuracy and varied sentence structures would improve clarity and fluency.
Overall feedback
Your response effectively summarizes the key changes at Beechwood Farm from 1950 to today, touching on several important modifications. However, there's room for improvement in clarity and organization; clearer comparisons would strengthen your report significantly. Focus on improving coherence by using linking words and phrases, which will help guide the reader through your findings. Additionally, enhance your vocabulary—consider substituting awkward phrases with stronger, more precise words. Finally, pay attention to grammatical accuracy to ensure that your sentences convey your ideas clearly and effectively.
