Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the conversion of the sheep area and the addition of new facilities like the farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the report lacks precision in describing the spatial relationships and the extent of the changes. The overview is somewhat vague, and the description of the 1950 layout is hindered by unclear terminology. While the main trends are identified, the lack of clarity in reporting specific locations and the overall structure of the response prevents it from reaching a higher band. The summary of the changes is present but could be more effectively organized to highlight the transformation of the site.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by unclear sentence structures and confusing referencing. While some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Firstly' are used, they are often followed by disjointed information. The referencing is sometimes ambiguous, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes described. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs is weak, and the connection between the 1950 state and the current state is not always clearly delineated, which affects the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains numerous spelling errors that occasionally impede understanding, such as 'agerculen' for agricultural, 'commerical' for commercial, 'insterial' for industrial, and 'cotteges' for cottages. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and the attempt to use more specific terms is undermined by these inaccuracies. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To improve, you should focus on learning the correct spelling of common descriptive terms and expanding your range of collocations related to map descriptions and urban development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('there a numerous of amenities'), article usage, and sentence fragments. Many sentences are poorly constructed, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often inaccurate, such as 'Baen was removed construct with farm ham'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and periods. The high frequency of errors throughout the text significantly impacts the clarity of the message, keeping the score in the lower range.
