Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the maps, identifying the key changes such as the addition of the farm shop, holiday cottages, and camping field. However, the description is somewhat repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical focus. For instance, the statement that the northern part 'remained the same' is inaccurate, as the maps show significant changes in the layout and surrounding infrastructure. While the main features are highlighted, the comparison between the two time periods could be more precise. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant trends, such as the shift from purely agricultural use to a more diversified, tourism-oriented site.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, moving from an introduction and overview to specific details of the 1950 and present-day maps. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In 1950' and 'In present', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the phrase 'the northern part of the farm have remained the same', which contradicts the visual evidence. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two time periods, which helps the reader follow the development of the site over time.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, using terms like 'relocated', 'accommodation', and 'infrastructure' (implied). However, there is a reliance on basic descriptors and some repetitive phrasing, such as 'considerably developed' and 'added'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'in lest side' (likely meant 'left') and 'has build' (should be 'have been built'). To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more precise geographical and descriptive vocabulary, such as 'transformed', 'diversified', or 'situated in the north-eastern quadrant'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, for example, 'The given maps illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'the northern part... have remained' (should be 'has remained'). There are also errors in passive voice construction, such as 'holiday cottages has build' (should be 'have been built'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to limit the score. More attention to verb tenses and pluralization is needed.
