Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified several key features of the map, such as the addition of solar panels and the holiday cottages, the overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends. The description of the changes is somewhat mechanical and lacks the necessary detail to fully convey the transformation of the site. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, concise overview of the main changes and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive analysis of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of varied cohesive devices. Transitions like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' are used, but the flow between sentences feels somewhat disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the description of the parking and camping field. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between the different parts of the farm is clearly explained to the reader.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'build' and 'is' throughout the text. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'The plans depicts' (should be 'The plans depict') and 'a holiday cottages is build' (should be 'holiday cottages were built'). To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to map descriptions, such as 'transformed', 'converted', 'expanded', or 'relocated', and ensure correct subject-verb agreement when using these terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement and tense usage. For example, 'there are several changes is made' is grammatically incorrect, and 'Four solar panels is installed' should be 'Four solar panels were installed'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that you use the past tense consistently when describing the 1950 map and the present tense for the current state of the farm.
