Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In 1950, Beechwood Farm is far for different from today Beechwood Farm. In the graph we can see the road cross the river and also the track. In mid we can see the a group of Fruit trees, soft fruits, and vegetables side. However, On track side we can see the Bran, Farmhouse, and a chickens area. On the other hand we can also see a large area or a ground for sheep.
And if we see today Beechwood Farm, we can see the same road over the river. Road left side we can see the same Fruit trees but there is also a new farm shop. But the soft fruit and vegetable got the same on there area. However, the new addition is that track become a road and the sheep area become parking, camping field and also solar system and in solar system we also got parking area. so i can say there are a lot of difference in today beechwood farm.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of the farm shop, the conversion of the sheep area into a camping/parking site, and the installation of solar panels. However, the description is somewhat fragmented and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. The information is presented in a list-like fashion rather than a cohesive report, and some details, such as the 'Bran' (likely Barn), are unclear. To improve, you should provide a clear introductory overview that highlights the most striking transformations between 1950 and the present day.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into two paragraphs, which is a good start, but the internal flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'we can see' is used repeatedly). Transitions between ideas are mechanical, such as 'However' and 'On the other hand,' which do not always logically connect the sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial progression of the farm layout. Improving the use of linking words and varying sentence structure would significantly enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple verbs like 'see' and 'got.' There is also some confusion with terminology, such as 'Bran' instead of 'Barn' and 'solar system' instead of 'solar panels.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. To improve, try to use more descriptive verbs (e.g., 'transformed,' 'replaced,' 'expanded') and more accurate terminology for map features.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the road cross the river'), article usage ('the a group'), and sentence structure ('the soft fruit and vegetable got the same on there area'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over basic grammar, particularly verb tenses and prepositions, and attempt to incorporate more complex sentence structures with fewer errors.
