IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps show the comparison of site of the Beechwood farm in 1950 with the same site today.
Overall, layout of the site is same, which shows the main road, a river and a track. Some major alterations are done to the sheep area. It is now divided to the camping fields and a parking area with installment of solar panels. Whereas, the track is modified to the road today.
In 1950, there were only fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables on the right side of the road, but today, it has a farm shop there. Meanwhile, the barn is now relocated to the right side of road junction, and holiday cottages is replaced with the barn. However, the farmhouse and chickens are on the same place today.
Furthermore, the left side of track had a sheep area in 1950, but today, it is replaced with camping field and parkings. The installation of solar panels with a parking area also contributed to change of sheep area.
