IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps provide information about the particular farm called Beechwood farm in 1950 to the present day.

Overall, the farm significantly developed and modernized from natural and agricultural land to recreational facilities.

In 1950, the farm constituted a large space for sheep on the northern part. On the central part, there was a land for fruit trees adjacent to the road. Beside it there was a space for soft fruits and vegetables. The other side was for livestock which includes chicken, farmhouse and barn. The track was in the middle of space for sheep and fruits, vegetables and livestock. The river was located in the southern part which covered the area.

At present, the farm was considerably upgraded. The sheep space before has been replaced by camping field with parking on the east side and solar panels with parking next to it. The track has been removed and replaced by road. The road now has barn area. The fruit trees are added by farm shop along side of it and soft tress as well as vegetables remain unchanged. On the western side, it was upgraded that includes holiday cottages, farm house and chickens. Despite these developments, the river and road remained in the same location.
