Student answer (Band 5.0)
The map is given that illustrates the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.
Firstly,In map of 1950 there was a road between river and track.when people across the road there was a fruit trees gardens where many fruits trees grow up by farmers. After the feild of fruit trees there was a soft fruits farm such as banana, cheery, etc.next to these two farm there was a vegetables farm between the river and track.when people was turn left there was a chickens and farmhouse their also barn.
Track and river also run with these farms.on the other hand, there was a sheep farm out side of the track and river.furthermore, track was closely with the sheep farm but river away from the sheep farm.
Secondly, today there is multiplies changes in a map.in this map between river and road in fruit trees farm there is a farm shop also build. However, soft fruits and vegetables farm still same there is no changing. After that, barn connected with the road and chickens and farmhouse still there.furthermore, holiday cottages build where barn farm was in1950 map.there is big changes out side the road such as parking, camping field and also solar panels install.
hence, there is lot of changing between today and 1950 map.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of the farm shop, holiday cottages, and solar panels. However, the description is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear overview. The student attempts to compare the two time periods, but the reporting is often repetitive and lacks precision in spatial description (e.g., 'when people was turn left'). The summary of changes is present, but the lack of a clear, cohesive structure makes it difficult to follow the progression of the site's development. To improve, the student should focus on grouping features logically rather than listing them sequentially.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the internal flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'hence'). There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to visualize the layout of the farm. The transition between the 1950 description and the current description is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'farm', 'map', and 'change'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'multiplies changes' instead of 'multiple changes' or 'solar panels install' instead of 'solar panels installed'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the spatial features of the maps with precision. To reach a higher band, the student needs to incorporate more varied and accurate descriptive language related to maps and development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there was a chickens'), tense usage (e.g., 'holiday cottages build'), and sentence structure. The student relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. A focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and proper punctuation is essential for improvement.
