Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the transformation, such as the addition of solar panels, the camping field, and the conversion of the barn into holiday cottages. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant trends, such as the shift from a purely agricultural site to a more commercial/tourist-oriented one. The description of locations is sometimes imprecise, such as 'at the end of side road', which makes it difficult for the reader to visualise the changes. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary paragraph after the introduction that highlights the most striking changes, and use more precise directional language to describe the layout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, with 'Also' and 'Furthermore' used frequently to start sentences. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the description of the barn and solar panels feels like a list rather than a cohesive narrative. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus, such as grouping all accommodation changes together versus all infrastructure changes.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. Phrases like 'peoples' (should be 'people') and 'space were fruits trees are sitiuated' (should be 'where fruit trees are situated') indicate issues with word choice and spelling. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, incorporate more precise terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'converted into', 'replaced by', 'extended', or 'situated in the northern/southern quadrant'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the camping facilities are also made available for guest' (should be 'guests'), 'which use to be the track' (should be 'used to be'), and 'Farm shops is opened' (should be 'Farm shops have been opened'). These errors in subject-verb agreement and tense usage are noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and pluralisation, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures, such as passive voice constructions, more accurately.
