Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the student identifies some key features of the farm's transformation, such as the addition of solar panels and holiday cottages, the overview is underdeveloped. The response lacks a clear summary of the overall trends and fails to provide a comprehensive comparison between the two time periods. Many details are omitted, and the analysis is fragmented, preventing a full response to the task instructions. To improve, the student must provide a more detailed description of the changes and ensure the response meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks logical organization and clear progression. There is no clear paragraph structure, and the sentences are disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'in addition, advancement in the farm'. The lack of a clear introduction and conclusion makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, the student should group related information into distinct paragraphs and use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect ideas more fluidly and logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple phrasing. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'in today' instead of 'today' or 'in the present day', and 'every individual attracts to new things', which is unnatural. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the visual data accurately. To improve, the student should learn topic-specific vocabulary related to maps and changes, such as 'converted into', 'replaced by', 'expanded', or 'modernized', and focus on using more precise terminology to describe the farm's layout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'their is a lot of changes occur'), incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with little attempt at complex grammatical forms. The misuse of 'their' instead of 'there' is a recurring error. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, correct the use of existential 'there is/are', and practice using complex structures like relative clauses or passive voice to describe the changes to the farm.
