Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the addition of the farm shop, holiday cottages, and solar panels. However, the description is somewhat superficial and lacks precise detail regarding the spatial layout. For instance, the mention of 'some of track' and 'some space are empty' is vague. While the main changes are identified, the comparison between 1950 and the present day could be more analytical. The response would benefit from a more structured approach to highlighting the transformation of specific areas, such as the conversion of agricultural land into leisure facilities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the past to the present. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'On the first hand' (which is not a standard phrase) and 'today's there are'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the location of specific features. The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, and the logical progression of ideas is hindered by the limited range of linking words used effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'changes', 'space', and 'added'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'now-a-days' instead of 'the present day' and 'sheep spaces' instead of 'pasture' or 'grazing land'. The spelling of 'peroid' is incorrect. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'converted', 'demolished', 'expanded', or 'redeveloped', and improve the accuracy of your word choices.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The diagram illustrate'), missing articles ('in 1950, river and track'), and incorrect sentence structure ('In 1950, there are only some of track'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in tense usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles.
