The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pictures above provides a comparision of the overhead plan of the Beechwood farm in current day versus back in 1950. The basic structure of the farm has largely been retained since the 1950s. The farm is well connected to the main road via smaller networks of trach which has now been replaced by roads. Along the farm there runs a river, convenient for farming.

The area that was previously allocated for 'sheep' has been divided to now provide space for camping as well as to generate power through solar panels laid out in the same area. The camping site is conveniently located to allow access to the parking area lying adjacent to it which in turn provides easy access to the main road. The barn has now become smaller to allow space for holiday cottages adjacent to the farmhouse and area allocated for chickens. Adjacent to the barn, lying riverside are the vegetables, soft fruits and fruit bearing trees along with a small farm shop which is a new addition. On comparision of the above images, we can conclude that the farmhouse has diversified to include farm shop, camping and holiday cottages as its income sources.
