Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, identifying key changes such as the conversion of the sheep area and the addition of the farm shop and holiday cottage. However, the report lacks a clear overview that synthesizes the most significant trends, such as the shift from agricultural focus to tourism-related facilities. While the main features are identified, the description is somewhat fragmented, and the comparison between the two time periods could be more analytical. The inclusion of specific details like 'solar planes' (likely solar panels) shows an attempt to report data, but the overall summary lacks the depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. There is some repetition in the way information is introduced, and the referencing (e.g., 'with these', 'with them') is occasionally unclear, making the flow of ideas feel disjointed. Improved use of linking words and better paragraph structure would enhance the logical flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices or inaccuracies, such as 'layout demonstrate' (should be 'demonstrates'), 'rebuilt in roads' (should be 'converted into roads'), and 'solar planes' (likely 'solar panels'). The range of vocabulary is limited to basic descriptive terms. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'transformed', 'replaced by', 'situated', or 'adjacent to', and ensure accurate spelling and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The layout demonstrate'), incorrect preposition usage ('regarding to'), and awkward phrasing ('barn which was on west side is not shift'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on consistent verb tenses and correct article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
