The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps illustrate the differences beetween Beechwood farm in 1950 and its developments today.

Overall, there have been a lot of changes in the farm throughout the period. Beechwood farm has been transformed from a purely agricultural site into a multi-functional farm featuring farming, tourism and renewable energy facilities.

Firstly, the most noticeable change has happend in the largest area for sheep farming. In 1950 the majority of the farm was used for animal husbandry, sheep in particular; but first place now is divided into haulves for completely different purposes. To be specific, the first half located in the northeast is constructed into an area covered with solar panels, while looks right at the main road. Besides there are two parking lots in each of those locations.

Secondly, there were also some small develpments on the opposite side of road. Whereas most things have been kept originally, such as area for fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables; these is farm shop has been built nearby the main road later.

In the centre, there is a two turn road which looks similar to a triangle in the map. a small barn is located there in the end of the left direction road, while there was no special location there was no special location there in the past. Additionally, in 1950, there was a much bigger barn constructed opposite the parking lot in the energy area. In constrast, the farm house and chiken farming located in the same zone as the cottage, have experienced no significant changes over time. similarly, there is a Long river flowing thought Beechwood farm has stayed relatively the same throughout the period.
