IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plans illustrate the map of Beechwood farm in 1950 and on present day.

Overall, the map experienced some major changes, like the sheep section is totally removed, and on the sheep section solar panels, the camping field and two parking spots are introduced. Moreover, the barn shop is converted into the holiday cottages, whereas the vegetables, soft fruits, chickens, fruit trees section retained.

In 1950, sheep section comprised the largest section, but in today's map, it is replaced with the camping fields, two parking areas and solar panels. In addition, the barn shop is converted into the holiday cottages, in latest map the barn location is shifted and now its connected with the road.

However, the farmhouse, chickens, vegetables and soft fruits sections retained as previous, whereas a small farm shop is installed in the fruit trees section. Also, the walking track is converted into the road, although its position remained same.
