Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the two maps, providing a clear overview and highlighting the main changes. You successfully identified the transition from agricultural land to residential and recreational facilities, such as the camping field and parking areas. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting; for instance, you state that 'Holiday cottages have been replaced by a barn', whereas the visual data suggests the opposite or a different configuration. Additionally, the description of the fruit and vegetable areas as 'remained unchanged' is slightly imprecise given the introduction of new facilities. To reach a higher band, ensure that every detail mentioned is strictly supported by the provided diagrams.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the past and present states. You use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'while', and 'in addition' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and some mechanical use of connectors. For example, the second paragraph uses 'while' three times in quick succession, which makes the writing feel slightly formulaic. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that paragraph transitions are smoother will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'agricultural areas', 'recreational facilities', and 'installed'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'space that is occupied for sheep' (should be 'land used for sheep') and 'vegetables field area have been remained' (grammatically incorrect and awkward). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding redundant phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('fields... were located', 'camping field have been added', 'layout have experienced'), incorrect verb tenses ('have been remained'), and missing articles ('whereas river was running'). These errors are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice constructions, which are essential for describing map changes.
