IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show the site of a farm in 1950 and the same site today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.



 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The rendered maps illustrates the information about changes took place in Beechwood farm from 1950 till present day.

Looking at the maps in more details, it is clearly seen that during 1950, there was a open space for sheep which is converted into camping field on north side and solar panels installed on the north-east corner of the farm. Additionally, new parking space introduced on the west and north ends. Apart from this, the barn in the west corner shifted to south end of the farm which is linked by a joint road.

Turning towards the rest of the details, it can be clearly seen that new farm shop is introduced behind fruit trees. However, soft fruits and vegetables remains at its previous place. Surprisingly, new holiday cottages are developed on the place of barn. Moreover, a river is passed down from north-east corner to south-west corner.

Overall, the Beechwood farm experienced enormous changes including camping field, farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the major change was introduction of solar panels.
