Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the two maps, identifying key changes such as the addition of the shop, solar panels, and the relocation of the barn. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it lists features rather than synthesising the most significant trends, such as the transition from a purely agricultural site to one with commercial and recreational facilities. While the main features are reported, the description of the layout is occasionally confusing, particularly regarding the specific locations of the new parking areas and the camping fields. To improve, ensure the overview highlights the most striking transformation of the site rather than just listing items.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward sentence structures and repetitive phrasing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'also' and 'now'. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the description of the 1950s layout and the current layout could be smoother. The final summary is a bit abrupt and repeats information already stated. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would help guide the reader more effectively through the comparison of the two time periods.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'lightening facility' (likely meant 'lighting' or 'energy') and 'provide shed' (should be 'provide shade'). The range is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology related to map descriptions, such as 'situated', 'adjacent to', 'transformed', or 'converted'. Additionally, ensure that technical terms are used correctly to avoid confusion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('two parking space has been constructed', 'two camping field has also been constructed') and incorrect article usage ('the the northeast'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with fragments like 'Also.' and 'Ranging from...' appearing as separate sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness would be highly beneficial.
